4 men, 4 bikes, 4 days in Normandy beginning of June. What's to see, what's to do and where to stay? Any suggestions? :thumb2

I have most of the points of interest on the Dday landings and sites of note along with a word document with a description of each one if you want a copy.

hope this helps have agreat trip. :thumb2

We are off to Normandy in April

Have a good trip,I am going over mid April for an Advanced training weekend, 9 bikes intotal and stopping as usual with ADRIAN in Arronmanches - Normandy Beach Bed and Breakfast.

You will enjoy the site, like we have done so in the past, but now we go for the roads, especially the D911 and D999,

Try not to miss Pegasus Bridge,

Nigel

Do a search. There's loadsa threads on Normandy. I can think of at least two others in recent months that I have personally replied to that asked the same thing. xXx

Just back from a two day Wander in Normandy.

I'll tidy up the routes etc. and ping 'em up here before too long.

The routes down and back from Calais both work well.

It is definitely worth taking in the Bayeux tapestry :thumb2

In the end we didn't do the Falaise ride, opting instead to fill in some gaps from the day before.

Making an early start each day was definitely worthwhile. Even then we didn't have enough time to do everything. Still, never mind.... They will still be there next year.

Each day we rode out to the sites via the 'slow route'. Then returned back to our hotel each night via the 'quickest route'.

We didn't rush everywhere, had plenty of time to stop to gawp, have coffee mid-morning, mid-afternoon and a reasonable stop for lunch. Back at the hotel, around 18:30 for beers. All in all, a decent pace for a smallish group. Hotel was good and reasonably priced.

Richard

PS If you are going you will need a decent map, as your plans may well change (ours did) as the day progresses.

PPS Major & Mrs Holt's guide book (either the small version or the larger one) is very good.

Not knocking the OP in any way whatsoever. I too have come for advice in the past and always come away with something.

But I don't get why when some people come on here asking for advice for trips that are already covered all over this forum get loads of help and others get told they are lazy feckers and to try using the search function before asking stoopid questions ..... :nenau

I can highly recommend this B&B just outside St Lo and 30-40 minutes from most of the must see D Day landing sites.

The owners Michael and Pauline are very friendly and helpful and have a beautiful B&B with an outdoor pool which is very welcome if the weather is warm.

Do a search you lazy fecker. That question has been raised (and answered) a hundred times, already :D

:D:D Link please !

For those who need someone to tell them where to go or soothe their worries, you are the man Richard. :bow

Although your response to a query of mine before my first trip by bike overseas (just asking how many miles is realistic in a day - no route planning etc ) actually made me realise that the fun is in doing stuff for yourself. And not having too fixed a plan and not relying on anyone but myself. So I owe you ! :thumb2

If one can't plan a trip oneself, should one be allowed out of the country at all ? :nenau

The point is Dave, having never been to that part of France previously would it not be an idea to see what is worth seeing from other people's experiences rather than coming back and being told 'You should have had a look at this or that whilst you were there'. The same with accomodation. Is it not better to book somewhere that is recommended rather than take pot luck? Route planning I am more than happy to do.

Sorry. I had a little nibble there :D Come and join us. I'm sure we can fit another one in :thumb2
