Just back from my 12000 mile NOG experience, as usual all excellent. Had the EWS and front break-line recalls done also asked them to look at an oil leak around the gearbox (very minor in my case but i have seen it discussed frequently on this forum)
Anyway all in cost £260 and they have agreed to fix the oil misting (as they described it) under warranty (one month left) no quibble, including a new clutch.
Not half bad I thought, my loan bike was the new version which i used to do the return trip into central London. Nice extra power, smoother gear change etc but i definately don't feel the urge to do a swap. The almost bizarre amount of different colour metal finishes was a big turn off for me and the improvements are not that significant imo.
R1200GS 2006 non servo.

I bought my pre-owned 2007 1200GSA from North Oxford Garage.

I have to say I have always been very impressed with their service right from the outset.

It was recently returned because I felt the brake discs may be warped, they measured the tolerances and found them to be within BMW spec. However after one of their technicians rode it they agreed it wasn't right. The result was they replaced both front and rear discs and pads under warranty. Whilst they had it I asked if they would wire in my Autocom and Garmin satnav....this they did FOC.

Great service and although I have dealers closer I will on the strength of this go to them for future services and work which falls outside the warranty.

Many thanks to Matt at North Oxford.

Great but...

Just dropped my R12GS for a service today...loan bike ready (didn't take it in the end as wife decided to pick me up). But disaster, they called and said I have nail through back tyre (BT020) :tears:tears:tears.

Now they're putting a BT021 on for £170. Is that reasonable? They've kinda got me by the short and curlies tho if it is expensive!!

£120 to you sir, fitted & ballanced. Might be a bit awkward getting it this far with a flat tyre though!

NOG

When i picked my new bike up the other month i had done 60 miles on the clock before i had a nail in my rear tyre  however i had it plugged for £30, that was for riding the bike in, didnt no i could use BuMW assist.

They just said to keep an eye on it for warping and with TPC if anything goes wrong i would be alerted. done another 1,000 since with no problems.

May I suggest Ultraseal in the future.......I have had nothing but good experiences with it.

Been in their shop a few times before..... deffo a great setup, helpful and knowlegable staff.
Wish I was much closer for my servicing etc.

Would readily spend my money with a bunch of people who like to sell, but know what they are on about.

Tested a 1200GS when I still had the 1150GS, did not feel \i wanted to change at the time, though now have a 1200.

As usual people have different experiences of the same dealers, some good some bad.

My opinion is that certian staff in the store are experienced motorcyclist who enjoy their riding and the involvment of being around motorcycles.
These persons are open and homest, giving a service as they would expect themselves.

Other members of staff are as handy as a glass hammer, they wouldn't know what service was if it arrived in a X5 and slapped them on the back of the head.

I have had parts lost from bikes, oil leaks mended, only for oil to be leaking by the time i arrived home and then having to arrange for it to be ruturned.
Extras that were ordered and finally arrived to be fitted onto a brand new bike, nearly 4 months after delivery was taken.

If alternative dealers were within the locality and had different reports written about them, I would proberbly give them a chance to get my business.

But you have the same issues where ever you go and having a bike still under warranty you are required to use these official dealers (Read other threads and the service received).

The only thing about staying with the same dealer is that you know who to speak to when dealing with issues that might arise.

Let me cap off by saying all my bikes, BMW's or others, once out of warranty get serviced at home.
And until the service that we receive from some of these experts :ronno (not all) improves, that situation shall remain for me and many others.

I paid £110 for a new BT021 on the net, including delivery. Doesn't include fitting. £60 for 20 mins work seems a little steep, but then you're paying for convenience as much as anything.

I think they are good guys.

Have done the right thing by me after my own personal EWS hell.

I think Matt the service manager is is an absolute star.:beerjug:

intersting reading

Thanks you guys, all good stuff. I thought the tyre was a bit exxy compared to what i have seen elsewhere but otherwise NOG seem to have it cracked. I will let you know how the oil leak/misting fix goes on 12/09 ish.

Oil Leak Done!

All sorted and no hassle I have no hesitation recommending this garage.
They lent me another 08 GS and my feelings are confirmed regarding the difference between an 07 and the new version. IMO if you have the old one with all the fixes done and you are considering the two year change keep your £3000 and go on holiday instead, preferably with the bike!

I feel I need to add a little negative balance to this thread, but I don't think its very polite to give details, I have had some good and some very bad experiences there, I would just advise people to enter any dealership with both your eyes and mind open and leave the rose tinted specs at home.

Cheers

All very mysterious I don't see a problem with spilling the beans if you are being honest and objective. I can only relay evidence of what I have found on this occasion and during the past couple of years. I have had the odd issue previously but with so few outlets available sometimes you are forced to persevere. I am happy to say my recent experience is that things have improved and i am happy to express this in the forum.
My intention now that i am heading out of warranty is to try out other outlets like the often praised Steptoe to see how they compare.
Meanwhile I will make sure I keep my rose coloured glasses hidden just in case someone gets the wrong idea:augie
