Im thinking about coming over to the lovely green isle, for the north west 200,
iv`e never been before , can anyone shed some light on the week,

ive been looking for digs, the nearest i could find was the premier inn in londonderry
every thing is booked,

any info would be great.:aidan

You are about a 40 min spin from Premier Inn in Derry to 'The Port' (as it's known). Nice spin down along the coast road. Lots goes on during race week. Practice normally Tuesday & Thursday. Last few years there's been racing on the Thursday evening as well as Saturday. I understand the organisers now have some latitude to move racing to a Friday should the weather forecast look bad. The last few years have more or less been a wash out due to the weather.

You're not too badly placed if you stay in Derry but if you want to be in the thick of all the events for the whole week you'd be better to try to stay closer. You'll have options for good some good spins out on the bike away from the port - head up the Antrim coast - some great roads but it will be chocca with bikes & cars or you could head for Donegal - less busy and some roads more challenging than others :-)

There are various (uncovered) grandstands erected around the course for which you have to pay. There are three at the start finish line which get booked up quite quickly. I would suggest that you also buy a paddock pass as it lets you get close to the riders & bikes etc.
If you don't want to sit in a grandstand you can just find a patch of grass or a hedge etc. to watch the racing, no charge for that of course.

If the rain stays away it's a great week. If you need any more info just ask.

Book some grandstand tickets too.

Staying in Derry wd be fine

Take into account the new flexible road closing orders. + or - 24hrs for racing or practice

We usually rent 3 houses on the coast, how many are you and what dates are you staying.
BTW its a week not to be missed NI is an exceptional place.

Thanks for the info guys.
me & a few mates have booked the prem inn, londonderry, gives us the option to see more than the races,
looking to head to antrim and other places, happy to meet up for some ride outs with the locals, will be there from the thursday
till sunday.

Thanks again guys.
