There is already a regularish meet at the Broughton Arms, in Rode Heath which is to the south of our area. The reasoning behind this poll is to try and guage the interest in expanding / Advertising the current Rode Heath meet, having another venue to the north, alternating them or keeping them seperate so here goes

I'm happy with any meet, so long as I can make it  :D

I've been travelling across to the N/E meet at Blubberhouses and it's a fair way to go. Now they are looking at moving even further away! (Could this be on purpose?)

So I've voted for another venue and day in the North although a more central venue would be good too.

I suspect that Rode Heath is a tad too far away for many in the North West.

I can do Rode Heath if it`s not on Mondays.

I often go to the Scotch Piper in Lydiate on Wednesdays, and that is very central to the North West group.

Anyone fancy that as well ??

I like to ride to a meet, so having somewhere central means that it could be almost on my doorstep. I hate short journeys so having a Rode Heath meet & another elsewhere sounds best. I've been spoiled with being able to ride the A59 each month to the Yorshire meet. The M6 to Rode Heath doesn't have the same appeal.

I must admit have attended only one blubberhouse meet and not seen you gsers at rode heath..:o
I works shifts and so would not attend regular.
BUT as Paul has just noted a nice ride out is good rather than a motorway blast.
How about trying another meet/venue /day as well as rode heath to see how well attended?
If not I will try harder to see you at rode heath:)
ps thanks for making efforts to motivate us to attend northwest;)

Bike meet

I would like to keep the Rhode Heath meet once a month as all the people that attend have become good friends. However if another monthly meet is set up on a different night I would attend as often as I could.

Cheers Daz.

M6 Corridor

I think the M6 is part of the problem.

The North West is a long tall corridor that the M6 runs up thru and it unfortunately often makes most sense to use it. I am sure many people dont want to make the run to Rode Heath because its a boring motorway blast just as some of us down here would be a bit hesistant to make the trip up to Preston/ Wigan /Bolton/Lancs if the trip almost entirely motorway.

Not sure what the solution is Roger. Maybe we keep separate pub meets but make more of an effort this year to get together on rideouts?

Maybe us Rode Heathers could change the venue to get nearer to the Thelwall viaduct so it reduces the motorway bit for some? Lymm / South Warrington (ie Applethorn or Grappenhall) Knutsford/ Wilmslow.

Maybe the poll should be how many people would like to meet at and would hopefully regularly attend a venue north of the Thelwall viaduct and how many would do the same south of the viaduct. Then hold them on different days of the month to allow some cross pollenation, so to speak.

It would be great to get something set in stone by February and then try to stick to a certain day of the month as this will increase the numbers of people who may drop in / attend at the last minute.

Muddied the waters I have ...sorry is I.

No you have not muddied the water that was the idea of the "Northern venue on a different date" its exact location would be interesting as the area couls be the thelwall viaduct to North Cumbria so it really depends on the interest to the northern end. Just to further complicate things in the summer the ride to/from is a =ve as paul Y points out this not the case in January. I liked the idea of the Rode Heath although for numerous reasons never made it and the Hopper now thats gone the interest in doing something differnt in the NW

Rushy's post makes a lot of sense. I don't know how many GSers there are in the Northern part of the N/W. Here in Kendal I'm still quite a way from the border and the Thelwall Viaduct is still a fair journey South.

Maybe a new post with the aim of finding out the GSer demographics in the Northwestern area would help here?

I'd like to be more active in my (relatively) local area.

Billy no mates - Kendal:tears

According to the where are you post you are not alone perhaps you need councelling or a new under arm?

May I throw a suggestion into the ring The Birch & Bottle on the A559 just off junction with A49 and junction 10 of the M56. Food is ok so is the drink but I'm not to sure if we would be welcome without invite.
