Off to northern Spain and possibly northern Portugal end of April start of may for about 8 days, anyone know of some good routes - roads to hit places to go things to see, good campsites etc.. :blagblah:we will be starting from Santander and turning right. Any ideas? :thumb

There's a great towel/winery designed by Frank Gehry in Elciego:

Really quite something to see, and to stay in.

The rooms are pretty special and there is a roof top bar with a great view over the village.

If you're going with your partner, it will earn you some brownie points ;)

A certain young Spanish lady once took me all along the coast line, it realty is worth following all the roads closest to the sea before heading into the Picos. :thumb

I'd probably start by making a cup of tea. Then settle down to flicking through the threads in this very section and/ or in the Trip Report section.

You ain't the first and you won't be the last to make the journey, that's for sure.

You should also Google something along the lines of: great motorbike roads Spain

You'll need more than one cup of tea, there is so much out there.

PS Please get a map. Los of bods don't bother. They should.

Coast road, Picos, Potes and then glorious Galicia. Santiago should not be missed as well the Tower of Hercules in La Coruna and then the Rias Baixas on your way to Portugal. Enjoy .

Lovely part of the country but the weather up on the north west coast can be pretty bad.

Our first stop after Santander is usually Potes , theres a cracking campsite about a mile past called La Isla Picos De Europa on the n621.

Take some time on the coast roads, its worth the time:thumb

Coast road all the way to Finisterre will be very rewarding. If you have the time an excursion into Northern Portugal will not go unrewarded though, it's really good. Mountainous and scenic. :beerjug:
