North York Moors green lanes - Easter weekend?

So you got wet then....I did fanny out in the huff with britain this morning. Sorry chaps, Let me get the "proper" gear for any weather and falling over. I went out this morning like a man on a sportsbike in a T-shirt and flip flops. loser ville.

twat suit ordered
Tyres Ordered
Bash Plate on the list
Engne Bars on the list
Offroady boots on the list, (not ankle height daytonas, as was this morning)

I assume you both got soaked....for that I am unhappy for you, but at the same time patting myself on the back. I really wasn't preped for a cold day.

I am not bowing out.....keep these things going.

paul, hope you are al put back together properly, Andy, again sorry for buggering you about.

John

P.s get your map logs posted or emailed.

I think Paul must have got rained on on the way home as it didn't rain on me at all :augie Got wet feet but that's par for the course and have about thawed out.

Look forward to seeing you betyred and betwatted - let me know when you've got sorted as I'm always up for a run out.

I was trying out Memory Map on my iPhone and don't know what kind of track log it produced, will have a look and post it if it's worthwhile. In the meantime I'll sort out a new numberplate :blast for Monday.

It stayed dry for us all day, just kidding about the rain. Just managed to get a coupe of photos before camera gave up :

A nice lane near Kirkbymorside, going to check this one out again as I led us out the wrong way:

I've got the track logs on my Zumo, I won't post them in a public forum but if anyone wants them they are welcome to them.

Cheers,

Paul

Because one of the tracks, while entirely legal is very prone to damage in wet weather and goes through a very sensitive area. While the people I've met through this site come across as being sensible enough to respect the areas they are riding through I've met plenty who don't. There is nothing to stop anyone from doing what I did and buy a couple of OS maps and finding the lanes for themselves.

My point entirely.....

So wouldn't it be better to highlight the sensitive lanes and suggest people either give them a miss or at least take a bit more care and ride with a bit of thought on them?
Just a thought. :)

You can be certain that the rambliars and antis monitor these forums. Letting them know where we go is bad enough, publicly posting up information about lanes that we think should be handled with care is doing their work for them.

Very well put :thumb2
Not really.
I'm not going to start arguing the toss, but the simple fact is they know exactly where is sensitive and where isn't.
If you are riding legally and more importantly responsibly, nothing you post on here will change that.
It's far better IMO to be responsible and tell others that might not be aware where is sensitive so they don't unwittingly bugger things up for the rest of us.
As you rightly say ANYONE can pick up an OS map and work out where can legally be ridden, so you not posting up your route is not really doing anything. If you posted it up and point out where people need to take care/avoid it's far more responsible than simply not posting it.

Still, your choice. :)

Anyone from these forums can have a copy of the route, I'm not trying to stop anyone from enjoying these lanes. Along with the route are details of the lane that I'm talking about. I'm just not going to post them publicly.

Bike collected from the MOT station this morning (forgot they were closed Friday!), new pads need bedding in (stopping is currently very interesting...)

Going to bed them in tomorrow after the Grand Prix, front end feels light, but that's probably because I've been riding my brothers ZX6R since November (not in the snow though).

Looking good for Monday :)

Ride still going ahead for Monday?

Glad it passed, everything should be going ahead Monday as planned (well, the term 'planned' is a bit of an exaggeration), so see you in Pickering about 9.30.

Yup all good, although my speedo has packed in after some .... off roading earlier today.

It should make for an interesting journey... since i have nowhere to mount my satnav :p

Dead easy once you find the A64 - head towards Scarborough, turn onto the road signed Pickering, go into Pickering and turn right at the only roundabout that there is then the cafe's about 200metres on the right, hopefully with me outside it!

Who needs satnavs? Do it the old-fashioned way and tape some directions to your tank!

I could tell you if I am coming tomorrow, but I'd have to kill you.
