Wanted Norton 961 wanted

Hi guys, just got back to the Ukgser fold and picked up on the Norton PCP deals.
Just wondering if anyone else may be considering taking the same route and just transferring the PCP to a new keeper?
I prefer the black and gold option, obviously the mileage has to be low enough to allow me to use it SP model please

I think you will be very lucky to prize on out of someones paws. Its the most fun I've had on a bike for years. 1000 miles is going to cost you 100 quid. so not a big deal on the grander scheme of things. You'll love it if you can find one.

My mate is wanting to move his silver one on.

It’s at Teasdales at the moment with a Speedo issue. Silver though, but immaculate of course. 1300 miles ish.

Just wait a little time ,when the PCP 961 are handed back to the dealership.
They will be as cheap as chips?

Not as cheap as the PCP, which is basically a hand assembled £17k bike for the price of a coffee a day.

I’ve always fancied one of these, cost aside. I’d be interested to know how any owners have found them, particularly the earlier models in terms of ownership and reliability. They look gorgeous and I don’t really need any more power.

I would say probably avoid the Garner era bikes, an get one made under the TVS ownership as the ironed out a lot of problems before restarting production.

After looking at the fantastic new range of Norton bikes at the NEC last month, I have a sneaking suspicion that they want to turn their back on the older range of bikes they offered, so I think there will be some pretty good deals next year on these PCP/lease returned machines!!

You liked them? I was really disappointed when I saw them. They looked like ubiquitous but blander versions of Hondas. Horses for courses, but seemed to be going down the Jaguar route of alienating their buyers.

So glad I got mine on the PCP.

I would've never had or ridden one otherwise, too much money.

But the offer was ridiculous, a loss leader for sure. I've heard someone at the finance company made an error.

It's a great bit of kit. An occasion to ride, a swan song of the brand as we know it. Feels special, an attention grabber. But it also rides great. A true analogue bike with quality components.

The tires are scrubbed to the edge, and it's a joy to fling around. It's everything I hoped it would be and more.

I will say it's probably best used as a second (or third) bike. Something kept for certain rides. Sunny weekends. At that it excels, and I'll never forget it.

But it will be going back. This sort of love affair isn't destined to be forever. It's fun for a good time, not for life for me.

Personally, I really liked them, yes. I actually think Jaguar would have learned a thing or two about how to relaunch a brand, including refining their logo. Norton were really struggling with the bikes they had (I was actually after one of those nice retro Nortons in the summer, but was put off by reviews and owners)
Jaguar were in an even worse situation, basically people were not buying the cars anymore, their relaunch and rebrand was an utter disaster!!!
The enthusiasm I witnessed on the brilliant Norton stand (the best stand at the show) will I hope equal some good sales next year. My only slight worry is absolutely nothing had a price tag on it!

Out of curiosity guys, has anyone put any proper miles on one of these beauties?
I appreciate they’re not suited to crossing continents but has anyone done 5000 plus miles on their bike?
I would like to understand if reliability has been an issue

The old chestnut of if you have to ask you can’t afford applies You’re spot on re the disastrous Jaguar rebrand. My father-in-law, who has an XK150 was horrified.

Once PCP bikes returned they will hang around in dealerships with over ambitious pricing then be sold to the highest bidder .£7000-8000?

It’s the finance company that get the bikes then put through auction .
The dealer was saying they have nothing to do with the bikes . They told me to haggle with the finance company and offer the figures you mentioned above .
