Hi

Me and a mate are riding to the Arctic Circle this year, and I have been advised by a chap from the Bodo Motorcycle Club to ride the 17 from Trondheim (E6) via Namsos , Holm to Sandnessjoen, and then on to Mo-I-Rana.
It looks the business on the map, but has anyone rode this route ? and if so how was it ???

Send a PM to Liv who should have a little bit of an idea:augie
Not done that route but, make sure your tyres are new if you go that far north.
The roads up north will eat your tyres...nice and grippy BUT:augie

The 17 is a must do,if you are going north from Trondheim, nice roades, and much scenery, including the Svartisen galcier, and the stongest tidal current in the world at Saltstraumen.
Highly recomended.

I'm a little late... :o

About roads in Norway:
If you look for really bad roads, with potholes and pebbles, you'll find it.
But most tourists riding in Norway pick the largest and fastest roads, and that is not the funniest roads.
Don't be afraid if the road are bad - most likely it is good tarmac, and you'll love it! :)

So, why not ride 17 north from Trondheim?
Well, if you are in a hurry, if you do not like to see the sea, and things like that.
But if you are here as a tourist, you are not in a hurry?

I have never heard this:
''The 17 was so bad. Next time I ride another road.''

I hope I helped! :)
:) Liv.
