what format is the footage recorded in?
how big were the files you had to upload?
what resolution is the recording taken in?
did you have to edit the footage at all/reduce size?
how long did it take to upload files?
I was working with two lots of raw footage.
Guys is 640x480, 1900kbps, 30f/s .wmv
Mine is 720x480, 3110kbps, 30f/s .avi
I've not yet found a format to upload them in where YT doesn't fuck it around tbh.

They keep changing the format which doesn't help
This is probably closest but lo res:
<object width="640" height="505"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kYKqhoX7TqI&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kYKqhoX7TqI&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="505"></embed></object>
<object width="640" height="505"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Js3YQB1q5Lk&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Js3YQB1q5Lk&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="505"></embed></object>
They seem to have settled on a wide screen ratio at last tho, but tbh I have had enough of YT and am looking at vimeo as an alternative.
I did all the editing on windows moviemaker, which works fine for my purposes, but it does get a little crashy if you are using lots of files at once.
YT will only accept films <10 mins and <2GB so if you want to do longer you need to cut it into segments. Size wise that's not normally an issue. 10 mins is well under 1GB, most if mine under 500MB.
They take a LONG while to upload. I was getting about three uploaded overnight.
