One thing I would stay is that you will not travel as far as you plan.
Depends what your planning is like really.
I planned a 3200 mile route and we just rode it and saw where we got each night and amended as necessary.
As it turned out we dropped a little off but managed most of it easily with 350ish mile days and one 500 miler but that was down to missing a ferry not planned miles.
For a return trip with a group next year I am looking at 250 mile days to give plenty of time for breaks and the inevitable issues a bigger group causes.
Anyone should be able to do 250-300 a day tho really, more on the more open roads further north, so if you plan that and not something totally unrealistic you
can travel as far as you plan.
Towns are few and far between for the most part, and on the open road despite a low speed limit you
can cruise for hours on end at 70-80ish and daylight goes on forever, so if you pace yourself it's surprising just how far you can go in a day, even on twisty mountain roads.
