Denmark to Norway Ferry

Hi all.

Just wondering for our forthcoming road trip, is it better to use one of the ferry crossings from Denmark to Norway. If so, what route do you recommend, also, do you need to pre-book, how long is the crossing, rough cost in sterling per rider/bike and how often does it sail?

Or would others think it is just as convenient to ride into Norway via the road bridges which is our original plan ?

How did your trip turn out? Any lessons learned that you would like to share? I am hoping to complete a Nordkapp trip next summer. Any info you pass along is greatly appreciated.
