I'd be interested to know how the CB500Xs got on. How did they compare to the tour company bikes - is there a big difference on those kinds of roads? Or were they 'enough'?

They’re fine but the Vstrom 800 has much nicer handling and loads more mid range .
Some nice bikes to rent at Canary Ride
Might come back with wife for 4/5 nights in a couple of years .Rent a nice bike from Canary Ride and stay up in the mountains somewhere like Artenara which is beautiful

It’s all been resurfaced at its a stage in the forthcoming round of the World Rally Championship, so it’s like a race track . Needed my XSR 900 GP.
But the Vstrom 800 DE was utterly brilliant again.
Probably the best handling bike with 21/18 wheels I’ve ever ridden and I’ve had loads. Just perfect, combined with the sublime motor.

Are you going on the Canary Motorcycle Tours? We arrive on the 8th.
No mate, hiring a bike 7-9th from Canary Ride as I have a few goods rides planned from last year.

CMT are great but after two weeks riding with them I now know the island very well so will do my own thing next time , renting a nice bike from Canary Ride and stay in the mountains
Having ridden all over the world I would say this is the best weeks riding I’ve ever done . The pics and videos don’t do it justice. The best roads combined with the best scenery . But it’s the variety of roads and scenery that takes the breath away.Looks amazing and very worthwhile thread for me. Never been to Gran Canaria, only Tenerife and biking roads not as good as here.

I loved the same trip in 2023 riding mainly Vstrom 650 and Honda NC750 DCT but doing this year on Vstrom 800 DE has taken it to another level . Such a stunning bike . I will be getting one at some point.
And many of the roads now have new tarmac ready for the forthcoming WRC round, so like a race track. I’ll be back , ideally with wife staying in the mountains and renting a nice bike from Canary Ride .
Last day tomorrow…..then no more riding in the sun till …….mid Feb
