Just went out for a blast over the top from Otley to Harrogate and when changing down into second for the tight corners struggled to find second. (I am balancing the revs on the change down).
Also when going up from second to third on a 'mildly' aggressive overtake engaged neutral and made for a brown pant moment. (up-change is often lumpy but I perhaps need to let the revs settle a little more than I do) Must admit some of it could be down to over enthusiasm but does this sound like the beginning of my gearboxes demise.
Any easy checks I can make.:nenau
God dam, I can't change ingaging to engaging under the edit icon. Bring on the abuse.

Adjusting the clutch arm correctly is worth doing along with making sure the gear change linkage is free and not too worn.

Do you use GL5 spec oil?

Failing that it's bolloxed

Nothing in the way of the gear lever, like the engine mount bolt?

Getting the clutch adjustment right makes a big difference.

DAMHIK about the above two items :augie

It's not had a good service since I bought it in June and unsure about previous, so will start with a good service and go through the points you made. Would you recommend motorworks for service kits and which oils would you recommend?
The advice is much appreciated, will have a go when I get back from work next week.
Many thanks

Ep 80/90 but it must be at least GL5 spec.

GL5 is actually an out of date spec but should be the minimum for airhead gearboxes. If it's been run on GL4 then the damage may already have been done.

If you go to GSF they sell Fuchs Ep80/90 in the right spec as well as selling millers 20/50 engine oil for £8.50 a Gallon ---> http://www.gsfcarparts.com/leeds.html

millers brighouse for gearbox oil
motorworks for service bits
check gearlever mine did the same took gearlever off cleaned the crud out light 3 in 1 light oil back to new
