Anyway, would anyone like to guess at the repair estimate for my bike?
Insurance assesor/dealer price estimate will be ridiculously high for stuff that can be filed smooth or straightened and repainted.
Or at worst replaced at home with used parts.
It was only nerfed onto its side wasn't it....and looked rideable from the scene.
It's supposed to be a ruffty tuffty round the world bike isn't it...wear the scars with pride.
I see the driver is taking pics to remind him of the day he lost his license.......![]()

Rallye 2 jacket elbow and shoulder scraped,as well as palm of right glove. Have sent receipts, will see what happens. Was your bike clothing torn? Worth claiming for?
Got a skinned left knee where I battered his wing mirror offI'd also get checked out for any injuries - stuff shoulder sore back etc - you never know.
and a bruised right shin. Got a few other aches and pains as well.Got a BMW system 6 with a scraped visor and chin piece. Difficult to know if it's been compromised, but it certainly won't have been improved by the event.Or was there any damage to your helmet? Expensive item to be replacing if it had.
When my K1100RS was knocked over in a car park about 8 years ago now, I had everything possible replaced even if it had a scratch. It wasn't my fault so why should I put up with any damage? It included fairing panels, mirror, handlebars, pannier lid, alarm and anything else with a scratch or didn't work. I rode mine home too. Total cost to repair was £1,800. I asked for and got all the old stuff that was replaced so I have a few spares now should I need them and can always sell them on if I sell the bike.
My view only but perhaps that is one reason why insurance is so high - by all means get the bits that were directly damaged replaced but to lob another load on that was not attributable to the incident is a bit like claiming for that Rolex that went flying off down the road too - no win/no fee buggars don't help either.
We all do what we are comfortable with, my zone stops just this side of the above
Just sayin'
Maybe I wasn't clear - I had everything replaced that had been damaged as a result of the bike being knocked over - even if it was just a scratch. If I had been paying for the repairs I wouldn't have bothered.
If I was paying Tarka I may well have just patched up, but drunk drivers deserve to have their insurance hammered (although I suppose it costs us all indirectly).

The first people my insurance company transferred me to after I notified them of the accident were no win no fee solicitors, they're like vultures.
try White Dalton they do a lot for the Legion Riders and know their stuff.
Unfortunately Bez I was put directly in contact with some firm called Thorneycroft Solicitors, hope they're OK.
My insurance is with BMW Motorrad so I'd like to think they will see me alright - we'll see!!!
Two years ago a customer had his bike knocked off its stand by a car nudging it while parking - Bmw park lane insurance quote was £4800 - he brought the bike to me for an estimate - which was £500 using brand new genuine BMW parts . The insurance assessor said the price difference was too much and I'd have to increase my estimate ..... I raised it to £1200, insurance were.happy. So was the owner because I told the insurance company to send him the cheque for the amount and he'll pay me. He bought the parts and paid me and it all cost him the original quote of £500. The main dealers and authorised insurance repairers know exactly how much they can quote before the price reaches the write off value which explains the absurd estimates given for such minor damage, which also means they get the maximum work and parts out of the claim. That's why our insurance increases year on year .
