Not my best day ever.

Glad you're OK Steve. I had a similar prang when I was wet behind the ears with my first GS 650 about 14 years ago. All worked out OK in the end but fault was deemed to be 50/50 as I was filtering. Yours looks, thankfully, a little more cut'n'dried. :thumby:

Just bought an 05 Bonneville Speedmaster (Cat C) off the owner who'd had the 'accident' on it.

31500 miles with a PAV of £3300. Insurance company claimed £4827 worth of damage using new parts

To get it back on the road it needed a new headlamp (used £30), the forks straightening in their yokes (30 minutes of my time), the front wheel straightening (Motoliner £60) and a fresh MOT (£28)

Yes the fuel tank still had a golf ball sized dent in it and the offside silencer was still scratched but those two items alone totalled over £900 and as I said it has done 31500 miles :augie

I've bought plenty of Cat C & D write offs and ridden them home.

So when are you chopping it in for a new toilet? After all, it should be as good as (sorry) - almost entirely new by the time Ocean have done their bit.

BTW can I have the old FD? ;)

I'll not be buying an LC as I've ridden them and am not that impressed. My 'Hilltopped" hexhead is nicer in many ways and I prefer the look of the older GSA's, the bike is a keeper anyway.

they even replaced a socket rail and sockets along with the extension now thats service:D:thumb

Everyone seems to get in a tizzy about the lubrication fluid-film getting destroyed in a nanosecond...........

It doesn't - so I wouldn't worry.

Al:D

Bummer, but I bet you could pick it up and ride away, and that is what counts.

No idea of costs there, but it depends on the frame. No bends or scratches and it will be fixable. Bent frame, or scratched frame, and expect it to be totaled. At least it would be in the US!

Jim

Doesn't matter. White Dalton can take over the case. And tell the Ambulance Chasers to do one.
They really are a good bunch. Worth a call to them still.

Looks like Thorneycroft are just personal injury lawyers. Don't specialise in motorcycle claims.

From White Dalton:- If you are unhappy with your current solicitor, change. You cannot be forced to use a particular solicitor, changing is easy and we'll take you through it step-by-step

I'm not on their payroll just have worked with them through the Legion.

Based on what the OP has said about injuries and the bike damage I suspect White Dalton will not be interested because the claim is too small for them to make money on recouping costs from the other side. I suspect in an open and shut case like this the OP will be fine with any decent solicitor whether a motorcyclist specialist or not.
