........ does anyone know if BMW have plans to fit a proper indicator switch to the R1200GS/GSA anytime soon?

It's the one thing that is stopping me returning to the fold.

I have never had any problems with the BMW indicators. And if someone really holds that up as a reason why they could not cope with a BMW, then I start to question whether they should be riding a motorbike at all!!!!!

I never had any problems with any of the indicator operating methods that BMW have experimented with since 1970, but I lost my right thumb in an accident 4 years ago. I can still ride a motorbike though.

Any other thoughtless questions as to why I, in your uninformed opinion "cannot cope with a BMW"?

Not thoughtless,ya didn't mention ya only had one thumb.

Quite.

I was going to post a similar comment after your original post.

Dont see why he's being 'thoughtless' in the circumstances :nenau

He was thoughtless, because he assumed that I was having a go at BMW's methods. I have been a BMW GS owner until 18 months ago, (with a modified indicator set-up that "experts" on this very site said couldn't be done), and around this site for quite a long time to know that some people speak/type first without thinking about what they are replying to.

Perhaps, instead of immediately criticising, jumping to conclusions or merely being defensive about BMW, whoever replies could ask "why?" or "what problems or issues are you experiencing?". This would be a lot more constructive and helpful than questioning ones ability to ride a motorcycle!

FWIW, I had a 3 position switch wired into the indicator circuit and running a second flasher unit to create a second, parallel circuit on my old R1150GS. I asked the question because I would like a 1200, but with their canbus wiring, I'm not sure it would be so easy or indeed if it would work, hence my question based on BMW's move to standardisation on the 1300 and 800 bikes.

You wrote: "....... does anyone know if BMW have plans to fit a proper indicator switch to the R1200GS/GSA anytime soon?" Nothing more.

BMW's have a proper indicator switch and I have never had any problems with it. Hence my comment.

If you had 'specific reasons' for asking the question, then it woul NOT have taken you much longer to expand on the reason behind your bland statement. So please do not jump down my throat. Of course I have every sympathy for your situation, but please do not expect everyone to check everyone else's situation before making any sort of comment or statement in response to a posting.

Like the K1300GT?

Quite a few failures already been talked about on the BM club site ;)

Now, with the obvious exception of Mr. Armstrong, (thank you for at least attempting to answer my question), can anyone provide an answer to my original question without being a TOSSER?

Maybe we should have a "Timmy's Rule" for questions too!
