Well I suppose it is as I am selling two other bikes to fund my GS so,.....

Has anyone had any joy selling bikes on e-bay?
Put my VFR and my Volusia (dont ask...the phrase fool and money is involved!!!) and so far I am just asking questions from people...without any bids...have done all the recommended stuff like set a low start bid etc.....is e-bay populated by wasters or do I have to be patient.....not on of my strong character traits....

I know its good for bike accessories, not too sure about bikes though.
I tend to favour Bike Trader. I know it costs but it can go in their paper and on their website.

A mate of mine sold his immaculate VTEC VFR and X11 on Ebay a couple of years ago after unsuccessfully trying to sell them in MCN for 3 weeks. He got a reasonable price for them (the same as he was advertising them for in MCN, without getting a call).

I have sold two bikes on e-bay both K100rs's, got what i thought was a good price for both never had a call from MCN or Bike Trader so it worked for me. I think that being honest in its description is a must, as is plenty of photos i emailed out several sets to prospective bidders still less hassel than phone calls, I have never managed to complete a sale via MCN or Bike Trader so would have no hesitation in doing it again.

Hi

I fully agree with pragmatix - I have recently sold 2 125cc bikes (I am actually glad she has decided to remain a passenger for the foreseeable future) on Ebay and believe that there is no way I would have been able to sell these bikes for the same price by any other means.

I made sure that the description and all details were 100% accurate - I also implied viewings were possible on the weekend (the auctions ended on a Sunday evening) - had a visist on the Saturday and a vastly improved and winning bid resulted.

I think you reach a much wider audience on Ebay and if your feedback rating is good you should have no problem selling anything. Be very careful though when it comes to payment - for a laptop I sold in September (to finance the GPS) I had offers from Nigeria, Singapore etc. etc. offering up to 3 times the new retail value!

I have heard a lot of horror stories about Ebay - so far my experiences have been very positive.
