QUOTE. I have little doubt that if asked to directly, Dr Farkoff could provide many photos of the work he has done on Mr Civil's motorcycle.........I am also in little doubt that the amount of work, the number of hours spent doing that work and the quality of work done on said bike is rather dis-proportionate to the amount that was charged to Mr Civil in labour.....maybe on one side, maybe the other.
I wonder if Mr Civil would like to take it down that route more than Dr Farkoff?
Perhaps an open an honest accounting of all that has been done would be a way of showing who is ultimately out of pocket in this?QUOTE
He seems well enough paid for the job and an hourly rate of 22.50 euro .
Including detailed billing for wheeling the bike in from a van . The bill amounted to over 1000.00euro the work was supposedly being done between normal more urgent work. This is not a small amount of money .
The repair cost is totally not a consideration in this dispute. It would be the same thing if the bike was left in to get a puncture fixed at a tenner.
I did post a direct question as to whether he did actually break the switch . As yet I have not received an answer
I suspect that you were attempting to quote me, so I'll respond to that.
I have no axe to grind here whatsoever.......Beyond a few PMs over the years, I've never met Dr Farkoff, but I have met Mr Civil and Billie, and enjoyed their company, as I hope to do again in the future.
Having said that, (and I admit that I have no idea of the labour rates over there) I have followed Dr F's posts and technical advice, some of which he has been kind enough to throw my way, and I respect him as a mechanic from what he's said......
If he's been charging 22 and a half euros an hour for what seems to me to be justified as being called his 'expertise', then either he's seriously undercharging or your economy is utterly fucked.
I know from long experience that xx.00 euros per hour equates to a real sum of about 3/4 (or less even) of that, given the time to actually deal with the dirt, scraping off old gasket material, cleaning of tools, working out exactly what the problem really is and the sheer shittyness of working on an old vehicle like a cheap airhead or a tatty but loved land rover..
If that's the case, then Mr Civil has had a right fucking bargain out of DR F in my humble opinion
Like I said though, I have no axe to grind here, I'm just expressing an honest opinion, and one I'd bet money on being right.
