Not that many for sale

Decided on the 800GS over the XC but not many used ones on the market (bmw, autotrader and MCN) (have not subscribed here so can't see past the thread title and i can only see one there). Should I bite the bullet and buy a shiny new black and orange one? I know I am going to take a 2k hit just riding away....... but if I am going to keep it for a while...... won't be that chuffed if spring come and there is a glut of lovely used ones on the market......

Are there not that many for sale because the bike is relatively new and not that many have been sold or just people hang on to them?

I thought there were plenty of them around. Have you checked the BMW Motorrad site? Don't splurge on a new one unless that's what you want.

It's worth the subs to get access to the For Sale section. There's some good uns come up now and again.

the best thing you can do is pay for subs, then check out the for sale forum. it's a really good site and you will always get good advice...

Personally, I would go for black and grey 800, they are the best... just opening a great big can of worms...

Why to wait !

Good choice the F800 GS is an excellent bike

if I was looking for a 8 right now I would wait you got the new plate in March which the BMW dealerships will love to tell you the bikes another year older .... but the biggestrpossible saving could be thoes 8 riders that cant wait to trade up (or side ways ) for the March arrival of the Tiger 8's triumph im sure wont offer top dollar for thire old 8

I know exactly what you mean buddy, I've just bought a f800gs and it took me a few weeks of looking,

I prefere to buy privately, my bike has 9 months bmw warranty still to go, full vario luggage/comfort pack/bash plate/handguards/scottoiler/tinted screen and with just 2.4k miles its only just run in, I paid a fair price for a great bike

my advice would be to make sure your ready for when one comes up for sale, ask a mate to borrow his van, and even if one comes up on the dreaded ebay- make a good offer and be prepared to travel any distance at short notice, not forgetting a proper hpi check (online £19.99)

also if I paid subs when I first registered then I probably would of bought the grey one in the for sale section at the mo (I think its sold now)

I have one that needs to go but just have not got round to getting on the trader. It's a 08 with about 15K trax panniers, engine bars, touring screen few touratech bits like bar raisers etc. i may even throw in the zumo for the right price. just realised my subs have lapsed do I will sort so I can be PM'd

Keep looking, there's been loads on here for around £6k - a massive saving over new. I got mine on here just before xmas, 5,500 miles, mint, £6k.
