now i know why previous owner sold bike to a dealer....clutch slipping

Thanks for that link - just what I needed -

We bought a little Fiesta diesel van for my son to go to work in just over a week ago ........& it started smoking after 2 days
Took it to out usual garage & they reckoned an injector was on the way out - told me to get the dealer to sort it ....so we arranged to take it back
fecking turbo blew up on Saturday as we were taking it back to the dealer after only 50 miles - so it ended up back there on an AA recovery truck
Luckily it's got a 3 month warranty & I paid for part of it on my credit card as extra insurance
Anyway, I've given them a week to get it sorted .....but I reckon it will need near enough a new engine

Oooof! Makes you wonder what other nasty surprises are in the offing, how confident are you that the mileage is genuine?

MOT history all matches up in mileage - it's had a couple of advisories, but confined to brakes
Just had a year's MOT on it as well .....passed all emissions tests
Only cost us £1400 - but just wanted something for a year or so to use through Winter & get his NCB started
He's been using his bike since April

Main dealers won't take bikes with over 20k miles as trade ins. They have a short list of preferred dealer buyers for these bikes.

Don't know where you got that from. My main dealer took my K1300GT ps with 26k on the clock and put it in the showroom. He then had it back in his showroom 2 years later for sale again.

he told me that they cant sell on any bike which they cant give a manufactures warrantee..it has to fall into a milage/age category for them to be able to sell it on..
what they cant sell they pass on to approved dealers....
they will take any bike as a px and most get sold on to dealers...

Mick, your Message Box is full!!

Mobile Bike Tyre Fitter as discussed: Mark Brunt - 07912 158649

Apologies all for hijacking the Thread...

Do you mean "they won't take them as trade-ins", or as I suspect "They won't take them in P/X & retail them" ?

They mean they won't take them for sale in their own showroom. They will take bikes with over 20k miles but the price offered is only what another non-BMW dealer will offer.

so yesterday took bike to dealer....he later roadtested and confirmed clutch is slipping...
they now have a new clutch kit ordered from NOG.due tomorrow...
apparently there going to take the engine out and do it that way...he said its quicker and less fiddely then taking the rear end off....
hopefully this time next week ill be picking it up....

If,thats what they want to tell you good luck.

I take engine out to do the tappets on my Honda V4's; which is the quicker/easier way.

We all have different ways of reaching the same destination.

Main thing is bike gets fixed

Well seeing as they have to take the rear subframe off to get the engine out i don't see what they're gaining on their way to the destination :D
