Round 'n' round in circles.........
I have now done 700 miles on the new GS and i feel that its time to "tweak" it a little to make it mine so to speak.

Havin just heard about a very nice Crimbo bonus that I will be getting from work, I need to spend it as quickly as possible for fear it might just burn a whole in my pockets

Wot shall I spend it on first??

STOP!!! Before you go any further stop right there...You are now standing at the top of a very slippery slope. Your shiny new BMW requires absolutely nothing more than having the nadgers wringing off it for the next 50 thousand miles or so; it will do this for ride after ride and ask for nothing in return but the occasional oil change, change of tyres and brake pads. You really do not need sheepskin seat covers, silly colour coded side panels, GPS navigation systems, Remus exhaust systems or anything else that is designed to take the hard earned cash out of your pockets. Will you listen? Of course not - like the rest of us you will be driven by the urge to “Just change that one thing to make it mine” and before you know it you will be hurtling down that slope faster than you ever dreamed possible on a “round the world” equipped machine that goes no further than Bakermans annual bun fest ‘Darn Sarth’, You will be thumbing every page of the Touratech catalogue trying to justify that Compass Recta DK20 (part number 01-060-1006-0) @ £58.93 + VAT and P&P--- My name is Rob Farmer and I am a recovering GSholic :help

Get rid of the stupid rear mudguard/mudflap thingy that's bolted on to the shaft drive housing.

It smartens up the rear considerably.

You can buy a blanking plate and bolts from BMW for about three quid.

For God's sake listen to Rob!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's an ADDICTION I tell you; before you know it you too will:

* be eagerly awaiting mikebelch's return from his trips to America
* have a Touratech catologue by the bog
* be spotted investigating other GS's at the local meets to see what else you don't (yet) have

JUST STOP NOW.

(My name is ralphy and i am a GSaholic. Gulp.)

Don't listen to those dudes, they know nothing!!:D

Would however invest in a pair of crashbars, not that you going to crash or anything just that these bikes have a tendency to rest on their sides when you least expect it:confused:

Apart from that go to some GS meets and ask and look at all the stuff you could possibly get before spending money on wasted goods.

Cheers

Oh yes Oh yes Welcome to the sad farm. without doubt your first extras should enable you to travel in comfort, so i'd go for a seat( so many to choose from) & a Wonderful lick screen. Then Halfords spots & driving lamps or (PIAA) if you can afford them.Hang on a while if you can & take pics & advice at GS meets Is'nt life wonderfull.

If you look at THIS thread, specifically the posts made by our esteemed moderator judge, I think you'll agree engine bars are the first thing to buy, just remember they're no fking good sitting in your garage, you have to fit them:beerjug:
