Looks like Ashley has flogged Andy Carroll to Liverpool for £35m

So much for keeping the squad :( :(

That's a great bit of business £35 mill for an unproven player - not even proven at Prem level, let alone Europe or International level and way, way, way too early to be in the world class bracket that £35 million has bought before (Villa, Rooney, Tevez etc...)

Yeah a Toon supported might get upset at his departure but you'd have to be a mug not to take it.

Well it just goes to prove that the madness that is the money drenched Premiership is still being run by the lunatics if a player such as Carroll is deemed to be worth £35m......sheer lunacy:blast

Mind you, Sky, who said it was a done deal 20mins ago are now saying the second offer was rejected so fingers crossed he might be staying afterall - who knows?!

Thats a shame, they were selling Andy Carrol Tea trays at the supporters club shop. It was really good because carried 10 mugs

Boom Tish:thumb

Spot on. He's got great ability/potential but many young lads before him have worn that mantle and amounted to zilch.

He'll either amount to being a bargain or a huge mistake. Time will tell.

I think it's a desperate buy by Liverpool to try and appease the fans at the loss of Torres.

Great business for The Geordies though.

It might be "Great Business" if all you see is a balance sheet,
But it's really crap business if you are trying to look forwards and build a good side to win something.

Could NUFC turn that kind of money down though? Surely every player has his price? I think Andy Carroll has more than reached his.

Don't get me wrong. I think the only thing that will stop him becoming a top, top player is himself and I was hoping that he'd end up at Old Trafford.

'to win something' - the holy grail of a supporter

Of course ;)

You have to be optimistic to support the Toon.
I've been optimistic since 1969 (When we won the old Inter City Fairs Cup)

No-one can call a Toon fan a "Glory Supporter" !! :thumb2 ;) :roll :)

As a fan, watching this from afar, as I've been out of the country. Andy Carroll is not for sale at any price Mr Pardew eh? Is one point of view, the hapless sap has little control over this, which is why Keegan went.

Go on Fat Ash, a Lionel Messi would do for me:thumb

Some people saying it looks like NUFC, a club with little or no ambition or Newcastle the selling club, remember the 80's with Peter Beardsley (face), Paul Gascoigne (brain) and Chris Waddle (hair) were peddled to the highest bidders rather than forming the nucleus of a decent team?

In all honesty, they'd have been utter retards to knock it back though, would you in all honesty have paid more than £10m for Carroll. Spurs got van der Vaart for £8m, on the cheap, we signed Ben Arfa a European renowned player for £5m, even Man City who have been ripped off left right and centre got Tevez for £24m. £35m for a young lad from Gateshead with lots of hair who people were saying wasn't even good enough to play for us 6 month ago, it's a total no brainer,

I'm enjoying all the conspiracy theorists, mind though but, at least we got more than Bent.

I agree with Big Al (Shearer no Beetle:D)

‘He’s going to a club that has to win trophies, is expected to win trophies,’ he added. ‘He’s going there with a great manager who I’m sure will get the very best out of him.’
