Don't usually do this type of thing but thought I'd dip me toe in.Little tour of the Ardennes to take in a militaria antique fair in La Gleize on Saturday. In-between I'm taking in some things I've already done/visited and some stuff I haven't.

Yesterday I visited Bastogne and the war rooms and the barracks. Both worthy visits(I did the main museum last year)Few photos.

Nowt like a few stiens to loosen yer vocal cords; especially if there's an umpa band keeping you going;; we once got onto the motoway around Brugge and the mrs did'nt wake up untill we stopped at the services at Liege; i felt her jump as we pulled up; :D

The language is baffling to say the least. Some speak German, some French, some mix it all up and other speak a lingo I've absolutely no idea about.Joys of travelling :D

To get away from the military stuff I'm doing a couple of museums that aren't related to WW2.
Stavelot car museum this morning, had a nice collection of bikes aswell as the race cars.

I'am glad your giving these places some proper attention burridge; most of mine have been fleeting visits; Stavalot was part of the Spa circuit years ago; there's a lovely little cobbled square with a stone water trough and what i think was a natural spring filling it; it also had bullets holes around it so you could only imagine what it had seen in tho's day's. Reading your post is pulling me back for an extended vist; i should'nt be saying cheers but; cheers. :beerjug:

Finished museuming at a slate mine, supposedly very sought after blue slate in it's time.Worth the €8 entry fee.

Big map in the museum with the original track and extended version. Some great photos and write ups from those days.

This "stone trough" i dare say is actually slate or its slag from the mine i visited(literally a couple of miles away)Was used for everything in it's time.

I may have got an old photo knocking around somewhere; i will have a good shufty. :D :beerjug: A lot of our trips were all racing related so it was all about getting to the circuit for practice and the race; anything else we squeezed in. I once got the mrs to book me an overnight boat from portsmouth to le'harve whilst i was still at work friday to gone 14.00 to do the 24hr le mans;; when i got home she had left all the booking details under the clock on the mantle piece and gone to work;; oh for those days again; :beerjug:

Was up at 4 this morning, quick coffee and off to the militaria fair at La Gleize. Have to say,the first impression was very deceiving.,until you walked past the museum, then the fair opened up and it was big.

Plenty of small stuff but no heavy duty gear.Unlike a British fair that is packed with deactivated stuff, virtually nothing like that here

Glad i got there for 6,took me 3 hours to have a good nose.

Only picked up 3 bayonets,I only really wanted the US one in the middle, the Belgium one to the right i think I already have(really should take me inventory book with me)The one to the left is fairly rare and will be for sale, but it's not cheap.

Quick stop at Malmedy at the crossroads where 82 unarmed US soldiers were shot in cold blood.
20260620-152017.jpg

Stopped for a beer at the bikers gaff and these miscreants rolled it.Been on and off road for the last 2 days on there mostly knocked together contraptions, and having a right hoot.Good on em.
