I've just bought a 2006 Adventure, and have to admit the closest I've been to off-roading is riding down a narrow tarmac lane with grass/gravel in the middle on an old Thundercat. That wasn't a pleasant experience, but I was pretty lost, so thoughts of getting stuck and having to push the bike weren't helping.

Anyhow, just wondering if anyone can recommend some nice roads I can take the Adventure on. Its on Anakees, so nothing too muddy, and remember the rider is just getting used to the bike, so don't send him to his impending doom.

Oh and I don't want to be pissing off Ramblers, as I kinda like quiet walks in the country too.

.... So, not asking much then! Any tips would be great. Thanks in advance.

buy a Map of the peaks and i'll give you a few easy lanes to try out,
I'll give you about 3 and then do them in run order..

other than that i could take you out for a noivce day:)
but that will cost you money:)

cheers
Terry

Best bit of advise is ....don't go on your own!

Keep a lookout in this section and the Peaks. We quite often go for beginners trail rides (like this weekend - but that's fully "booked")

A set of TKCs will not only make your bike look better, but will vastly improve the fun you can have off road (without compromising road too much).

Hope to see you out and about soon...........

Spout

the about to shunt a load of lanes down in the Peaks for the summer and if we are realy un lucky the winter too...and we know what that means ..almost the end of trail riding in the peaks:mad:

oh depending on who we can get to organzie it i think the next outing will be in the spring /summer camping in Wales for a over night stay and a BAR B QUE

yip,
i've done 5 days in the peaks in the last month and found a few closed:mad:
but i wish guys would not pull down the signs to which TRO are places on so we can stay legal, because derby C C are not the best at giving info out:mad:

tenterhills is a great shame...but the amount of times i've done it and saw the wall pulled down so 4*4 can get up to booth farm is so so wrong..no wonder the farmer is pulling is hair out:mad::spitfire

It only takes one pillock to ruin it for the rest of us.

I'll admit I only rode one lane I knew very well on my GS, but the Landy was a regular weekend laner, and I was often dismayed at some of the people who came out with me (I was a group leader on occasions) who would want to drive on the fresh grass rather than the muddy track with a sideslope to it. :blast

Have a nice time this weekend, if nothing else I'll enjoy looking at the pictures :D

Thanks

Thanks guys. I already have a couple of Landranger maps of the Peaks, but I've no idea what I'd be looking out for. Is there a list of legal greenlanes somewhere? I'm only looking to potter along, don't really want to be putting full knobblies on yet, just something to make the soft suspensions make more sense.
