NW200 2011

bit of a nightmare of a day just about drying out. weather conditions and dissidents now thats a first in ruining a days racing.

Yeah and to be fair to the organisers I reckon that farqhar's oil spill (exacerbated by the wet roads) was what put the nail in the coffin for the day's racing. Clearly the majority of riders would have raced in the wet but for the oil on the coast road. Real shame. Will undoubtedly adversely affect the crowd levels next year... The highlights programmes will be brief!!

Stuart Eastons accident the other day must have played on their minds on making that decision after waiting for half a day! Shouldn't have let Rutter & Martin back in the possible re-run. though.

Get well soon Stuart :thumb

what a washout :(, i feel really sorry for the Privateers & race fans who have spent a lot of money getting & staying here, ah well roll on IOM,Kells, etc

I was at Black Hill for second race and road was a complete mess with oil. I'm sure it was an extremely tough decision for Mervyn Whyte and his team but safety comes first.

Yep I don't think mervyn had much of a choice ....

Complete bummer....

I'm one of those that has paid for ferries/hotels/grandstand seats etc, but I don't blame the boys in charge for calling it a day, I think we all could see the way that the day was going......;)

There was more to my visit than just watching the races. I loved rattling 'round the lanes...Sort of enjoyed that rope (y) bridge, and some of the villages are stunning....Does anyone actually live in Glaslough ? It's TOO perfect.:bow....and I had a number of nights in The Crown/Robinson's/Brennan's in Belfast....

If it didn't rain then it wouldn't be so green..I'll take the outcome of race day 'on the chin'....

See you there next year......:thumb

None at all David and a pity that it turned out to be a really shite day for all involved, organisers, racers and spectators alike. :(

I didn't go last year as my GS was on her way to the US and I found that I didn't really miss it all that much. I was working this morning and had thought that if it was a nice day I might run up to Ballysally and catch a race or two. Pretty glad that I stayed at home to be honest. :o

NW 200

Had planned to go up early this morning on my own, but with the weather as it was, I decided against it.

On hindsight, possibley the right call.

Definitely the right decision. I was strangely drawn to watching Steve Parrish and Hutchy talk about nothing all day on the BBC site. At least I didn't get wet.:D

We took the K100RS16v up and had a great day out handing out gift vouchers with Maxine

We had empty roads and were surprised by the number of bikes heading south as we toodled up and were really surprised at how few bikes were everywhere?

Anyway Next will be good again :aidan

the way we lost the west

just one of them days that don,t go your way and we all get them .The right decision was made . I feel gutted for the over sea fans/riders and Ryan he left knowing that his bike finished the day and from a professional point that is hard on him and with a big bill he has got a lot of work to do for TT .One gripe would be that they had parade laps that are not at race speed and could have ride around the work party which could kept the paying public entertained a little ie Dromara destroyers etc , role on tt and some good safe racing
