It might be time for me to update my Quest to a Zumo,

But can you put any Ordinance survey type maps on a Zumo yet?

I have both on my quest and can switch between the two on the move.

How do you do that?

have both topo and street maps in mapsource, they appear in the pull down on the menu bar if you have loaded both.

select the map segments for transfer to the device on both versions. They will show in the selected maps on the left of the screen.

Transfer to the device.

Once downloaded go to map info in the Quest menu and tick which maps you want displayed. You can have them all on together if you wish.

Simple with a Quest, but does it work on a Zumo?

I did this for detailed custom mapping for Portugal and the detail was excellent.

The Topo maps I have for the UK show details that do not appear in street mapping but its old so not as good as printed O/S map.

When off road though it helps you get a good idea where you are in conjunction with a paper O/S map.

From where do I download OS mapping for the Quest (or indeed such mapping as you had for Portugal - and is there any routeable mapping out there?)

TOPO mapping is compatible with the Zumo 550 and 660 (check out the compatible devices tab), hardly OS mapping but probably the best you'll get for those GPSs.

You can preview what the mapping looks like by clicking the coverage details tab and then clicking the map. Though not sure if this represents the view in Mapsource/Basecamp or on the device or both :nenau

Proper OS mapping is available for other, trekking type, Garmins here, not the Zumos though.

I have standard Satnav on my TomTom Rider and OS maps on a MM 2800. Both hang off my handlebars. This is my solution.

I will get a photo tomorrow to show you my setup.

I don't think its possible at this time to show both at once on any small GPS device.

Get an Oregon or Montana bundled with full OS mapping.

Routable navigation on OS maps!

Greg

Here we go. The device onn the left is my TomTom rider for normal SatNav duties. The device on the right is a Memory Map 2800 with extended battery for showing OS maps etc. The bikes instruments are still fully visible.
