Am I wrong or the previous GS needed a 98 RON octane fuel (94 American PON) but the new one only 94 RON (91 American PON), plus it can cope with up to 10% ethanol? That would be a good plus, first because 94 PON is hard, if not impossible, to find in Canada, and there is up to 10% ethanol in almost avery grade of fuel.

as i understand it, the old bike runs fine on 95RON by employing knock sensors to adjust the timing as required.

the new one does it without the knock sensors, so more efficient design perhaps? i believe it's higher compression too.

I had a read though the manual over the weekend, and it says 95RON, and also says super unleaded. Our regular unleaded is 95, and our super is between 97-99 depending on where you go, so regular in the UK is fine.

I also know what oil it takes:D

New bike, 95 RON and full power
Old bike, 98 RON and full power, 95 RON reduced power

higher compression 12.5
