Hi,

i need to turn down an existing socket to fit the lower plug recess.

For those that has a socket that fits, any chance someone can measure the Outside Diameter?

I dont have access to my bike for the next week othewise I would check myself obviously.

thanks in advance.

Thanks for all the replies :augie well i turned the socket down on the lathe and borrowed some blokes bike at work, it fits perfectly.

Job for next week is to re- chrome the socket so it doesnt rust :thumb

Couldn't really answer the first post as I attacked mine with a grinder until it fitted, so it doesn't really have a 'diameter', not being circular any more :augie

Spray it with WD40 when you put it away and it won't rust.

Or just buy a 16mm thin walled plug socket, available at any auto parts supplier.

But I admire your determination!

maybe in the Uk !

tried various places here and all had the standard thick wall sockets, short of ordering 1 online i decided to do it the easy way (for me) . I also have a chroming tank so makes no difference as ill rechrome the socket... mmmm shiny things :drool

they dont really have auto part suppliers public motor factors as its very rare for swiss to work on cars themselves, they just take it to the dealer and then bend over....

So what is the max O/D needed to fit all plugs on a 1200? Mine is still under warranty but soon I'll need to pull the plugs.
