odd heated grip issue

I've found that my right grip heats up much less than the left one. It does work a bit but definitely not as warm as the left one.

Kind of feels like maybe the outer half is heating up but the portion nearest the center of the bike is not - although I'm not entirely sure of this.

Anyone had this issue? Any fixes? Thanks in advance.

If they are standard OEM heated grips and not aftermarket then there is only one continuous heating element under the grip. The resistance wire (heating element) for each grip is only about 8 Ohms, which is not a lot. A poor connector or frayed wire or corrosion could easily increase the resistance in the circuit so your grip doesn't heat up fully.

Take the bar end weight off and have a look at the wires going into the grip. Do they look frayed.

You could lift tank and have a look at the connectors.

Thanks Ian. Just had a look at the wires going into the grip - which looked fine. Was going to lift the tank but it was so effing cold outside I was forced back inside as numb fingers weren't aiding progress. Will have a look again when it's hopefully a bit warmer!
