Would appreciate any suggestions on this! My 2003 1150GS with 4000mls on the clock runs fine from cold for anything from 20 minutes to as long as two hours, when an odd whining sound kicks in from vicinity of front end of tank or steering head. Loud enough to hear over wind and engine noise. If I stop the engine then start again it will reappear after a few minutes. Had trhe fuel pump out twice to clear any sludge but no joy!
Also, the bike runs on 6 bars on the temp gauge rather than five. Would this be due to having a bashplate fitted or just the higher ambient temperature here in the Philippines. Would normally just book it in to the nearest dealer, but the only one here is in Manila which is 24 hrs by sea from us!!! Many thanks guys! Barry Neves

best way to cool the engine is to dive faster. :D

one other possibility which would explain both problems would be a sticky brake calliper

Appreciate the above suggestions, guys. Neglected to say that the noise continues even when the bike has stopped which I guess would discount brake caliper???
