I just wanted to post an ode to this beautiful R1150RS that has come into my custodianship.

It's hard to customise a motorbike and not make it look tacky. Less really is more and the previous owner of this bike had superb taste.
Wheels, forks, brake calipers, swinging arm & rear drive unit, engine, gearbox professionally re-painted in 2K paint, restrained, cohesive aesthetic. Almost retro-futuristic. I'm enamored with it.

I don't know if he's on the internet and I'll not dox him but I feel like the work he did on this bike deserves to be seen.

Love it... I never thought I'd read that about an RS..😆👌

Love is blind, maybe?
I was focused more on the paint job he did on the wheels, engine, swinging-arm etc too. He could have gone mad but kept a lid on it.

No he did well... Very underrated bikes and one I had as a company bike with BM on and off... Sold a handful and hardly anyone remembers them amidst the mighty GS...

I kinda fell into this one as I've had all the other engine configurations and wanted a boxer now. This was cheap, obviously well put together and it was a case of looking once and thinking "meh" then looking again and thinking "actually..." and it grew on me.

The only BMW that ever made me stop in awe was seeing an R1200S in the showroom - that is a beautiful bike.

I had a reaction to the first 1100GS but it was more like "what the Fxxk is that!"... Very unique and in reality all of the 1100 and then the 1150s were designed on the same platform... The oddities were the 1100S and the C and derivatives...

RS's were the first of the oilheads in 93 and followed the same idea into the 1150...

A lovely job, especially the rear swing arm. I keep thinking it's time to pass my customised GS on to another good home as it is a bit heavy for me now but every time I take it for a spin I change my mind! I have 17" wheels from an 1150R that I had painted black but hadn't thought of the swing arm. I painted the forks with a metallic graphite. Enjoy!!

I didn't like at first but built up a big respect for them... They were usually owned by people who covered miles rather than pretended...

interesting....
1150 Decal on the fairing, but appears to have the 1100 exhaust system.
I don't know much about this model though.

RSs and RTs came with the non y piece exhaust system like the 1100's. It'll have an aftermarket can and collector delete like a Remus or similar...

Lovely bike L.Ex if you’re ever heading for The Old Stores PM me if you fancy a brew with one of the long converted..Wouldn’t part with mine..👍

@brcephalus Will do! Also: which screen have you on that? I've noticed turbulence sometimes and tend to run mine at the very lowest setting for quietude, but was considering different screens. Also would not part with mine, it reminds me of my old Bandit 1200 and why even with R1s/GSXR1000s etc I always preferred the usable grunt of the big bore engine tuned for big midrange.

looks good with the black swing arm and wheels. the RS was rider bike of the year 1994, overshadowed by the RT and GS.
I had a 1993 1100rs se with lower fairing.so called ergonomic adjustable handlebars and risers,
Seem to remember I retro fitted r1100gs hand guards, gs intake tubes supposed to improve lower torque ,
and rt1100 rear rack to enable the rt top box to fit. Not sure if that is needed and applicable for the 1150's. Enjoy.

It was something I picked up cheap (light use) on eBay..Cheap being the operative word, it’s not perfect but I’m easily pleased, so thought I take a punt; I can’t help with the make..Slight improvement so..👍

I’ve always been more interested in torque figures rather than top BHP curves at high revs too, dare I say the much used adjective of ‘Character’ which I’ve also applied to women and dogs, sometimes I mix the two up, but try to remember if referring to a woman use the term ‘Personality’ which usually goes down better..🤭

It’s about fifty years since I had an ice cream from Nichols in Parkgate.

Bike’s nice too.
