Odometer not running!

My Odometer (2001 R1150 GS)has stopped at 79,999. Speedo and Trip meter works fine.
Any advice on the possibility of taking it apart and doing home repairs?

Ran a search but couldnot find anything for oilheads.

Either take it apart or take/send it to a speedo repair shop or clock maker.
Looking at it will not make it heal itself.

Mine done that for ages. I just gave it a good slap which seemed to cure it

It doesn't look like they come apart to easily, but I dare say someone will be along to tell you how to strip them in a minute

Speedo works just fine so rules out the cable (1st thing I checked).
Being stuck at the 79999 mark may provide some clue. Guess its the resistance of turning 4 dials that may cause a cog to slip on a shaft.
There' s a very good article on repair for the airheads instrument cluster (http://m.odometergears.com/howto/BMW_Motorcycle_Mechanical_how_to.pdf).
I followed it to a 'T' and did get my Odometer and trip meter running fine.

I would just feel more confident seeing someone provide the details for the 1150. I guess it wouldn't differ that much despite 20 years between them.
So much for beemers. Thought there would be a thread somewhere I could refer to.
