A quick question for all you experts . . .

My '03 K1200GT's battery expired, so I ordered a Hawker Odyssey PC680 from Motorworks on Friday pm.

Later, I thought that I really should replace the old battery in my '89 R100GS as the bike is reluctant to fire if the battery isn't 'straight off the charger'.

Looking at the Motorworks site they advertise the PC680 and a larger PC925L for some Airheads. My 100GS will take the larger battery.

I phoned to add the PC925L to my previous order and was talked into buying another 680 as it was claimed to have a higher cranking current.

I have just fitted both new batteries and they work fine. However I am looking longingly at the space in the 100's battery carrier and wondering if I made the right decision.

There is a technical sheet supplied with each battery and comparing the 680 with the 925 shows higher figures for the 925 in all cases - so why is the 680 considered better ?

Has anyone got an Odyssey 925 fitted to an Airhead and is it OK ? ? ?

(My '04 1150 GSA will be needing a new PC680 soon so I could use the one I just bought for the Airhead).

Thoughts anyone ?

I'll have a look in the morning and see which mine has. It certainly turns the bike over really well even after a week or two of sitting outside.

I have got Odyssey batties on 2 of my airheads
A Pc 680 on the one and a Pc 625 on the other
The 680 is on my modded air head and is as big as space allows
The 625 came on a R100R i broke a couple of years ago
It's a bit small to fit in the battery box of my R100GS... Because it was nearly new i made a adapter to fit it in
The 680 is 16 ah
And the 625 is 17 ah

Bottom line is they both work fine and will start the bikes after many months without use or charging
So i therefore wonder do you need the biggest most expensive battery you can squeeze in :nenau

Looking at the specs i can't see anyway the 680 is going to be anything like as powerful as the 925

Hi Bob,
I did the same as you with my gspd, I took back the 680 and put in a 925, it fits the space very snugly, (on its side) starts were very impressive, until last week when the starter died, i think.

Thanks for the replies folks.

I'll stick with the 680 until my 1150 needs a new battery and will re-consider then.

Having had to bump start the airhead after a day's outing and a night in an Hotel (the starter was churning OK but the bike wouldn't fire up :blast) I'm inclined to fit the largest capacity possible for peace of mind.

(I was running heated gloves and a heated waistcoat for most of the previous day).

Either that of fit a larger alternator :D.

Thanks again.

Bob.
