Prob. going head out on mon night for a spin with Jockser + anyone else who's free.

Ermmmm, :o
Unfortunately somethings come up on the home front & I can't make Mondays run :(
What about one evening the following week ? :bounce1

Tonights proposed run has been rescheduled to this Wednesday (19/7) if anyone else wants to join willsuds & myself - meeting in Dundrum about 18.30 :bounce1 :bounce1 :bounce1

Meeting in Dundrum @ 18.30 on Wed 19/7 with Jockser to go for a bit of a spin. No real plan as yet, but we might go towards the featherbeds and then on to glenmalure. Light off-roading.... :D

Open to suggestions on other areas :bounce1 ..

Till then

Where are you meeting in Dundrum?

Near the Luas bridge over Taney Road - full details arriving by PM :thumb

The 18.30 start is not cast in stone - if you make it earlier you might get a cuppa ;) or we can hang on for a few mins if we know someone is a bit late :D

Hello Greystones

willsuds and myself went out for a spin tonight to search for suitable places and we've some good news and some bad news...

GOOD NEWS: There's a place not too far from Enniskerry that has a nice mix of fire roads and down- and up- hill challenges. :D

BAD NEWS: The combination of road tires and my (lack of) ability meant that I came home with a few more scratches on my bike than I went out with. :(

We're not 100% sure of the legality of riding in the place we found but there was no-one around to ask  and the barrier was clearly not intended to stop motorcycles :D

Hello Wookie and Willsuds - I am a hamlet man myself - ie live in Greystones - maybe let me know and we can meet up for wee bit of falling off in rocky stuff....I have a place that I go ,its not terribly challenging- but its good for a run about the place at the back of Ashford - would be interested in meeting up over the summer- give me a call on 087 2558510- there are lots of accessible stuff , just need to be conscious of the times you go there - IE Sundays are nt really on after 10 am . I often take the road from the N11 at the Glenview TO , which leads up to the Russian village , lots of gravelly bits and a dog to boot at the top of the hill ( NOT that I d boot a dog you understand!) Hear from you soon maybe.
I ve not brought this GS off road , at least when I have to pick it up it wont be as heavy as the last one................

Slim, tomorrow evening too soon for ya :nenau We're gonna bimble around Wicklow & try find some tracks :D Weathers good, roads will be quiet - no time like the present :bounce1

Shi*e , I am away working until weekend.
I ll keep on eye on this and try to catch up when I see a post.
This w/e is Achill - and I would love to go but might need a pass that would not be forthcoming unless Slavery for next six months appeals.
Some things just are'nt worth it.
And then there is the constant noise !
I should have known , but did I even listen to my self.
Ho Hum ................

NO :nono Next Weekend - 28, 29 & 30th :bounce1 And, some things, like Achill, are worth it :bow :thumb Besides, if you're away in Achill you won't hear the noise ;) ;) By the time you get back it should have abated a bit :D

We had a good spin into the mountains where we went on some ok tracks... apart from the F$*king glass everywhere.... :nono

I was really enjoying those little tracks... until the rear tyre gave out... :spitfire :spitfire , so much for the indestructable KTM  !!

Bad luck more than anything.. Anyway, just like to say thanks to Jochen, Paul and Denis for waiting around while I got sorted out.... :thumb, thanks guys.

until next time (including 3 cans of rapid inflate!!!) ..

Bummer about the flat :(

Hey good pics - The ground did look a bit hard in spots.......
Ill keep an eye out to see when you guys are out again playing in the mud.
I used the BMW repair kit at the side of the Piage - works very well - after I was down to my last bung ! First time I had a puncture on me own - when I was nt with a bunch of lads who rubbed their hands together when some one had a puncture - and then proceeded to take off the tires with their teeth.

So tis fairly Idiot proof - I d testify.

Cheers

Certainly are :thumb We only scratched the surface - but at least we know the places to avoid next time ;)

We went in from the Killakee side & started 'playing' almost immediately. The longest track (where Willsuds got his puncture :( ) we found was 2 km in each direction & the rest were much shorter but if you don't mind multi-point turning the moto at each end they're a bit of fun :bounce1

Next time we'll head further into the mountains - after Willsuds & Wookie left us I followed Padge as far as the crossroads at Sally Gap to scout out any other tracks that side but the only possibility was a 'barred' track off to the left at the edge of the forestry. More barrier circumnavigating required, me thinks ;) ;)

There are also a few possibilities off the road from the cross down to Laragh & maybe even from the X to Roundwood. Plus there's still Glenmalure :bounce1

Don't think I'll get out next week as I'm going to Achill for the day on Sunday & then back up there again on Thursday. Even the following week is dodgy as I'm in Cork/Kerry for the Bank Hol w/e. But if any of youse go out let us know how you get on :thumb

Oh, and it was nice to meet youse, Willsuds & Wookie :beerjug:

KTM outside Burnaby - Willsuds

About three weeks ago on a Friday evening .I was oogling a KTM outside the Burnaby :bow
- looked allround the pub in fact to spot a helmet , but no joy.
What a "Saddo" me eh?

Was that your bike ?

Off Road

Jockser - nice to see people bringing the machines off road - far to many shiney machines about with no honest mud on them.
When I frequented this site first about 3 years ago - there were only a handful of Irish Punters - and most of those were NORN Irish .
Looks like there are a few blokes here who dont mind getting their shoes dirty or their bikes.

Last time out on my 1150 ( :spitfire - stolen since - God bless Aer Rianta- NOT) I tried tracks on the featherbeds - up past the hell fire and round the twisty bits to the right and left.
There were some barriers but not of any consequence.
Did these with a CCM friend. Actually you can go accross country to the right and go over as far as the RTE Transmitter on Lugnaqulla - I think its called this- but that time I was on a Quad- ages ago.

Looking forward to meeting up with you blokes :thumb

hey Slim,
Prob was me in g/stones... I am there alot.

I am not sure the BMW bung repair works on the KTM as it is tubed

I am keen to find a couple of longer trails (without broken glass :nono ) because these bikes are built for off road messin.... and its great fun!! :D

Defo look forward to meeting everyone again.. and thanks to the lads for hanging around the other night.

Definitely will not work with the tubed KTM - for sure - but I mentioned it as it was a surprise to me that it worked so well- I had heard mixed messages before about this repair Kit ( mind you I did have it redone by a nice french bike shop a day later- only because I did nit have great confidence in my ability to have read the instructions right) No need for Gssers to carry any other form of repair stuff thats all......
