a dumb 800 question do you alter the damping or preload when riding off road?

Omg you have tempted them with their comments now haven't you!!!!

You may do a search on race sag for off road bikes and then it all depends on what riding you are doing and how it feels as no two riders will set up their bike the same. I personally prefer a lot of preload but if it isn't damped enough it will kick you off over the whoops.

Not sure where you are in Essex but I'm in Braintree and always happy to help as I raced off road at a reasonable level for quite a few years before I had a mortgage, wife and all the rest that goes with life.
