They definitely do have one. The previous air cooled models had one too IIRC.

Nominal output 92k, at engine speed: 7750 min-1
With power reduction oe 79kw, at engine speed: 7750 min-1

Thank feck someone actualy read their manual, those that have claimed to do so need to pay a visit to their local optitions

Hi Steve (and everyone else) it's Mark from Hilltop. .
They don't emissions test bikes .......
Just found the original press release - page 11.
Interesting. My bad for assuming that because the previous model had one that the latest one would too. One of the major briefs of Euro 4 was reducing oxides of nitrogen, so BMW must use a system for detecting and managing abnormal combustion scenarios including detonation. Knock sensors are not the only way to detect detonation. I'm speculating now but I wonder if they use exhaust gas temperature or monitoring resistance across the spark plug gap. Or some mixture of those strategies.
My bike was in Dynamic Pro, on the day. When I left, it was still in Dynamic Pro. The 'before' difference is a head scratcher, for sure. I gernerally run my bikes in hard, and don't baby them, so it's had the taps open regularly. I only run the bike with super unleaded, if that makes any diffference.![]()
Yep I was curious about how they do it, if they do? Maybe they don't need detonation detection as they allude to in the press release because of the redesign of the combustion chamber? Also they no longer need two plugs to get good combustion. I don't see anything to measure exhaust temperature but they might have hidden something somewhere?
I am curious to how one measures resistance across the spark plug gap.
I assume that a Hilltop re-map essentially enrichens mixture and gets improved fuelling by compromising on emissions, I assume that you do not adjust the ignition timing?
Ducati and ktm are same.

It's possible, or they do the opposite and measure the sharp increase in engine temperature that accompanies the drop in exhaust temps. Am just guessing. Measuring knock via passing a voltage across the spark plug gap after the spark that causes combustion has been around for a while. My understanding is sketchy but I believe the shock wave caused by detonation causes the resistance to voltage crossing the gap to change, with this change being detected by the ECU and an anti knock strategy (retarding the timing) being implemented until the readings return to normal.
Rain mode definitely reduces the maximum power
You thinking of your XR? The GS is just Dynamic right?![]()
Nope, the new GS has Dynamic Pro.
