Offline maps function

I have conducted research on this forum and on the MRA site but cannot find a definitive answer. Assuming I have downloaded the maps of the country I am visiting, what happens when I lose the data connection? Do I get a notification on the screen and/or does it automatically switch over to the offline maps?

Just use your phone offline all the time. I do, simply as my sacrificial navigation phone has no SIM card.

I assume I would lose traffic data? Not the end of the world. I was out yesterday in tropical Kent and lost the data quite a few times.

I guess so. But, how often is traffic a real issue? The world has survived and thrived for umpteen generations without being told that “There is 10 minute delay on your route, you are still on the fastest route”.

Me? I don’t use it.
