Oh Dear, oh dear, oh dear!!

Update. As if you care!

Called SPC today to make sure my glorious steed had arrived safe and sound.

Umm, no. We have seen nothing yet Mr G.

Oh, OK, thanks. I'll call later.

So I call the recovery company sent by BMW (Mondial??).

Uhh. Sorry my supervisor is out at the moment. I'll call you back. Calls back 10 mins later; Uhh, sorry, the truck broke down in the yard (that was lucky!) and we are waiting for a part. WTF :nenau

Lucky I called then :eek . They suggest I call Assist and get another recovery company to pick it up. Which I do and it's now in the capable hands of SPC :clap

The other issue was the truck that came the first time. Look closer at the photo. Those shinny places on the flatbed are oil/grease patches. The rest of the bed was covered in the same sort of stuff. Slippery in the dry. Near fatal in the wet. :nono Tethered by ratchet straps on the engine bars and that's it. No other retaining. Left in neutral and no brakes applied.

Skip.

As well as telling us lot, you might want to let BMW know this so they can investigate and/or decide whether to renew the recovery companys contract/services if they fall short of expected standards.

When Boarhunt Garage recovered a mates 1150Adv last year from Fareham to SPC, the recovery truck driver went the extra mile to ensure the bike was well protected and VERY securely fastened to the bed of the truck, which was reassuring.

Did that!

Told this to BM (Mondial??) when I called them the second time.

Felt a bit of a snitch to be honest but not for long. Why??

Well........ number one, some time, a long time ago, one of these recovery trucks (they're local) was driving like a complete tw@t and got all aggressive. Payback!

And number two, and no reflection really on the guy who picked my steed up, he said he "wasn't ready for a pipe and slippers BM yet" Yawn!

So i put it to him (a man certainly in his late 50's) that riding his Blackbird at enormous speed in a straight line must be so much more rewarding and life enriching than spending a weekend riding through rivers, eating pig, getting bladdered and listening to some cool bands! :nenau :D

He said his Blackbird, that only now do I understand to be a motorbike ( :D ), has not suffered any mechanical failures though. 15 All! :clap

He is envious, Skippy. He know you can have fun in more ways with your bike then he can with his.
Or;
he do not know how much fun there is with those pipe&slippers bikes, so please do not tell him;- he could buy one and come to a ford run! :eek

20 years after BMW made the first in-line injected K100 a man told me all BMW's are sooo ugly because of those things (he pointed at the side of a K100, where the boxer has one of the cylinders) are pointing out of the bike.
Well, I'm 100% sure I made it clear for him that he better go to an eye doc, and I told him a thing or two about what BMW are making in Berlin, like F and K, and the injected R do not look like the carburated boxers, and long before most cars in Norway got injecion BMW had that on some motorbikes!
And then I walked avay from him; he was not good for my bloodpressure!

It's OK not to like the look of a motorbike. But when he had no idèa of what he was talking about I did not like it when he tried to tell others things that is not true!

Send them to me, and I'll tell'em a thing or two! They get a little suprised when they get a message like that from a girl. :D

IOil seeping from the seal between the engine block and the gearbox
BTDT, Just got mine back from being 1/2 for a new tran. input shaft seal. And FD input shaft seal. Now the FD is leaking on the wheel side.

I will never make fun of Harley's leaking again!

It's on the mend!

The diagnosis was spot on.

Bike will get broken down into component parts today  and they are trying to get it completed for tomorrow  . New clutch included. And they're fitting an extended front brake cable for the risers as well as downloading the software to stop my sat nav from switching off unannounced. :clap

Asked for a thorough check over including final drive and any other stuff he can think of before the warranty runs out.

So, providing it gets sorted, result! I know it shouldn't have happened in the first place but there you go. :mmmm

Have I missed anything? :nenau

One thing that did come out was the question "Are you on the UKGSer forum?" "Yeah. Why?". "Oh! no reason. Thought so though". TeeHee :D

"Good As New" I can just about hear Ann saying, from here, so no need for a NEW BIKE then Skip ;) :D Hope you get everything sorted and back out on the road soonest.
