Oh dear…..not the best start to a tour.

My 1250 was forever having issues til I changed the battery. I think I took @Bigcats advice. Been fine since.

If I don’t ride it for more than a week or ten days, I stick the charger on, otherwise no issues.

And it’s still got the tracker.

i really like his colour setup, probably my preferred choice with the triple black being second choice........but yes, defo a battery issue.

Personally, I felt sorry for them, the guy had obviously put his trust and money into BMW and it was a reasonable expectation that he would be able to complete a journey with his partner. As it happens, I had a very similar experience with a 1500 miles new 21 reg 1250 and was on my way to Plymouth/Santander and stopped near Swindon to refuel and bike would not re-start with various warnings coming up on the screen, after contacting BMW assist and being informed it could be a while, I found that after sitting beside the bike for about an hour (the Mrs was with me and most impressed) it suddenly decided to start. I stopped at the BMW dealer at Bristol and all credit to them on a May BH Saturday they took it straight into the workshops, but unable to provide a resolution, was told they thought it may be a exhaust decompressor issue and it may not even happen again on the trip, so we carried on to the ferry at Plymouth. Day 2 in Picos, Spain and we were on a low loader back to the BMW dealer at Santander and were provided with a Seat Ibiza for the next 9 days of our pre booked tour. On returning to collect the GS for the return ferry to UK I found that the BMW dealer had done nothing, apart from blaming the battery, but refused to replace it at BMW's expense, so I paid them to fit a new one and rode it home, whereupon I changed it for an NT1100 and the Mrs has never been on a bike since.

In case you're wondering....

We all blame BMW for many of the electrical problems on these bikes, but I wonder if the real problem is all the tat folk fit to them. Multiple extra connections to the system must have an effect on it.

Funny timing, my bmw app has just informed me I haven't started my bike recently and advised me to charge it. It's on trickle charge but direct connection to the jump tab.

Must be their answer to the battery issues although I don't have a 1250

Thanks for posting
Getting a battery on a Sunday !! You should have bought a lottery ticket that day
I am in a very rainy Spain at the moment.. Looking forward to the sun that is coming on Tuesday - hope you get the same

I can't see the pleasure in riding a bike like that, I see them on the ferry all the time.

They spend 30 minutes strapping tons of shite on, plugging shite in, fiddling with this and that then wobble off like a 3 legged camel
Agreed !
I think I would have left ET at home and gone alone in something less loaded

Enjoyed watching the videos and I feel for them having so much bad look , at least you wear both safe .🙈👍
