Looking for a way out
Thinking of taking the pulge and ordering a 2610 (via Maplin with the £50 off).
To mount on the bike I will buy a new jobby (like this ) onto a RAM mount. Do I then also need to buy a power lead for the bike?

I'm confused about V6 / V7  It should ship with v6, but a free upgrade to v7?

Whats the going price for a 2nd hand Garmin V complete with V5 maps?

That is, unless anybody wants to sell a second hand 2610 for a couple of hundred notes :D

Don't know about Maplins but I recently bought my 2610 from Aspid. Shipped with v7 and all latest drivers.

As for mounting I bought the RAM mount and arm parts from GPS warehouse and the various RAM bits to mount to one of MiGSels excellent behind speedo mounts.

Power lead is also available from GPS warehouse. If you do a search on here there are several threads that list the bits you need with part numbers, etc.

Maplins are currently shipping with Version 7, so no trouble there.

And yup you'll need to buy a power lead for the bike.

Cheers

I had to order a lead last night from the GPS Warehouse, to replace my knackered one (read my thread)!

They are £28.00 delivered, mine connects right to the battery with a couple of battery connectors, take minutes to do. I think the cable has an inline fuse, cannot remember for sure.

Yup only a few minutes to connect to the battery, and they come with a 1 amp inline fuse on the live side (well duh).

well I got one and its brill. Good service from Maplins.

The only problem is I can 't find a power lead for the bike anyway, they are all out of stock.

Anybody know where I might get one (tried Maplin, gpsw, total GPS).

Got one from Expansys.co.uk recently. It arrived the next day.

:)

Yup more bl**dy questions

The car charger/Speaker chappy has two odd looking connections on the side. What are they then
Also if I get a remote ariel, where does it plug in?

Jimbo

Not sure about the car charger, but the remote arial plugs into the top socket located above the USB conector - see page 1 of the owners manual.
If you have a renault or intend to hire a car in France (which will most probably be a Renault) then you will definitly need a remote arial as they have a coating on the windscreen that blocs GPS reception.

Eurtraf is correct in what he says ..

Solution for a 2610 is the ANT-19-MCX antenna from GPS Warehouse (www.gpsw.co.uk) and very affordable.
