merry xmas everyone, hows your day been, mines been great but i went through a bored patch so i thought i take a visit to the garage and start on my mods(r1100gs)probably the only thing that i dislike is the remus grand prix road legal can,its scruffy and far too quiet.so out comes the grinder to chop guts out but after all that hard work does,nt sound any differant:(ive noticed that the remus link pipe has a baffle fitted so has anyone tried running with just this pipe fitted without the end can(looks good and sounds a little better)can this baffle be removed?or am i better off removing/gutting the cat and putting the silencer back on(whats left of it)any thoughts

Unless the Bike was an Import - it will not have a CAT.

Mine was and did - my answer was to swap it for a UK spec OE exhaust, wear earplugs (I always have anyway and this makes the sound of the exhaust immaterial) and ride the thing.

probably not the answer you want - but I've yet to see an exhaust that suits the bike or lasts as well as the OE.

btw - over the 11 years of owning these bikes and being involved with forums such as this and its predecessors one thing has always struck me - for reasons I've never had properly explained, messing with (chopping up) an after-market exhaust opens a whole can of worms - why the 1100 should be different to the 1150 in this respect is a mystery to me. (unless it's because the 1150 actually does have a cat and a different programme in the motronic)

If for whatever reason I had to replace mine and couldn't get another OE - then my choice would be another S/S one - from Staintune.

i have a remus titaniam road legal with link pipe and it is loud p.m. me if interested
