I have a Wilbers 642 on mine. Reservoir will be very close to the exhaust (and a bit of the plastic rubber/paint stuff is worn as a result).
Whilst mine is sprung for me (and lowered by 7mm), it has/is taking some time to set it up right for the varying conditions I want it for.
Things I have found
- recommend you set the pre-load before final fitting for what you expect to be using it for on your planned trip as you can't really do this on the bike (only a problem when carrying camping gear one day, then solo the next, then camping gear etc etc)
- to stop bottoming out, particularly with bike loaded with gear on, ended up winding the high speed compression adjuster in quite a bit. It was about the only thing I could do on the trail
- whilst they have 5 year warranty, a condition is that they are serviced every 2 years. This cost me £158 (which included shortening the rod). In hindsight, I'd have ridden it until it needed attention or broke.
