Ohlins observation

Probably been posted before but just an observation for those with Ohlins and possibly other aftermarket shocks.They are a slightly larger spring diameter which requires removal of the lower shock mount bolt when you are removing the alternator cover.Might save someone from scratching their head when following the how to in the Font of all Wisdom on belt replacement. Like I was.

Funnily enough when I forgot to put the cover in BEFORE reattaching the shock it still slotted into place, must be just that you cant get enough angle when removing.So now when I first start the bike the battery warning light stays on at idle, blip the throttle and it goes out and stays out.Cant remember if this was the case prior to the belt replacement, can anyone advise?? I'm used to my Guzzis which all iluminate the light at idle, not sure if the Beemer is the same.Or have I stuffed up the belt tension?? Thanks.

Alternator light on my 1150 stays on after starting until I first blip the throttle - I think it's something to do with a cut-in voltage for the alternator becoming self-energizing (hence it stays out thereafter) but it's been a while since I studied the relevant circuitry. About since I last had a Guzzi, coincidentally. Needed to know back then...

mine does that from time to time, just needs a blip to get the speed up, to give higher volts. simples
