Ive a rear Ohlins spring is marked 1095 64/160 LO32 I find its not adequate enough for my slith like 245lb frame never mind coping with a pillion.

For me to get the preload right the damping ends up to harsh, anyone fitted a heavier spring ?

i think ming runs a 170 or 180. he would know the pros & cons.

i think you possibly need the compression damping fettled. this can only be done by dismantling the unit.
i can't be much lighter than you & have a 160 spring on minimum preload. i do have tweaked compression damping though.

if the shock has not had a service for a while, you may well find the springing a bit weak due to it needing a nitrogen recharge. i know it's not the gas's main function, but it does add a bit more spring.

Hi,
first posting, so be gentle, or I'll send the boys round !!!
I too am a fat git & am thinking of changing the rear unit.
I have phoned Hagon's & they will fit a higher rated spring (at no extra charge) if I allow them to fall about laughing when I tell them my weight. Try them to see which rating they rekon will stop the R's end scraping on the ground.

Shocks brand new (well nearly, about 1000 miles on it) Ive dropped Harris an e-mail as I cant get through on the phone to see what spring they recomend. Ive heard they have a set up service for around £30 might pop in next time I'm down that way, sounds like a good excuse to visit freinds in Wales.

Let me know how you got on Stef, I'm a healthy 18stonne (what ever that is pounds) I'll have to check what my spring rate is, where abouts on the spring did you find it?

18 stones about half a stone more than me.
On the Ohlins the spring rate is printed on the spring
