Oil change Interval

As a qualified Engineer who works with proactive maintenance techniques including oil analysis, I have amassed plenty of real life evidence over the years ref hydrocarbon & water contamination failures FACT.
I dont believe you are up for constructive comment / education from people who deal with this subject for a living though?

Ooooo..... get you :D

Ive covered 3500 miles now on my 1250GS, so just under 3000 miles since its initial service.

What are peoples opinions on completing an intermediate oil change myself now?

Beneficial, or just a waste of time/money?

Thanks

Waste of time and money

As a Chartered engineer with nearly 40 years experience in reliability and maintenance analysis, including oil analysis, I too have amassed plenty of real life evidence.
I agree, plenty of water contamination failures. However none from not changing your engine oil for two years.
As JJH rightly says.... Every time you bring your engine up to temp, you flash off whatever moisture is in the oil.
Water contamination (unless you have a leak) is down to the length of time between operation - not length of time between oil changes.

If I felt that it was necessary to change the oil because of the amount of elapsed time logic would suggest that seals would also need replacing. JJH
