Oil changes

Millers 10/40 in mine Sim ... Hand made in Brighouse :beerjug:

What maters is the oil thickness, in centistrokes, at the oils working temperature - aropund 10/11 centistrokes at 95 degrees C is common.
A decent Synth 20/40 is often thicker than a cheap 20/50 dino from new, at 95 degrees.
The synth will keep it's viscosity for it's working life, the 20/50 dino will eventually revert to near enough a straight 20, and most get to 20/35 in less than one thousand miles.

I use any decent quality mineral 20/50. Probably overall it has been changed more frequently than necessary but I notice everytime I drop the oil it looks pretty much as it came in the can.

Any bottom end issues with these engines are usually attributed to incorrect oil filter installation but in generalthese engines go on for high mileages with normal servicing.

Cheers fellas.

The good fettle has got it running nice and sweet now. :thumb
