Oil coming from drive shaft

After very promptly receiving Mavs FD I find that in a day or so that more oil is coating the back tyre.
Passing a BMW dealer in Tulsa I nip and and they free of charge have a good look at the bike.
Head mechanic says FD is fine to my suprise:eek: He says there is too much oil in the gearbox and the high temperature is making it expand and go past the seal. He let a bit out and 4 days later no probs at all,,,well apart fom the spare FD taking up room in my panniers:D

Happy days, off to Jack Daniels distillery in morning:beerjug:

I have a similar problem on my R1150GSA. I have dark oil coming out of the gator that's over the drive shaft. On checking the final drive seals and oil levels, I determined that it was running down the drive shaft. The leak is not constant but intermittent.
Does anyone know what would cause this?

As noted above check that the breather is clear...lip type oil seals are not designed to handle pressure, so when the oils get hots and expands this could cause a small pressure build up in the FD and allow the oil to be pushed past the seal.....

But this problem would affect all the seals not just the input.
