Oil consumption

Is this normal
Have topped up oil at 17800 miles 100ml
18885 - 200ml
19000 - 200ml
19300 - 100ml
19686 - 100ml
Just to keep it in the middle window . Oil checked 15mins after at least a 29 mile ride.

Using castrol GPS 10W 40

My 94' GS uses quite easily 500ml if I ride 800 miles over a weekend to Wales and back. Then it will use silly quantities in the cities from 200ml over 200 miles to nothing over 500 miles. Theory is that if you park it on the sidestand it migth use more oil but mine does not really care how I park it. Maybe some weeks I ride a bit harder into work than others. But overall your oil consumtion sounds pretty normal to compared to mine and several other cases we have heard about. If it is not smoking or leaking excessively would not worry about it to much but do keep an eye on it.

If everyones GSs use so much oil................. Why do oil changes?
Its being changed constantly anyway.

I´ve just done 2700 odd miles and only used 300ml, but me bike is well run in 60,000 miles on clock, thats a R1100GS I think town riding burns more oil.
