Apologies if this turns out to be a numpty question - when it was asked of me I was sort of "eh?"
I'm about to do a month long tour through Europe on my 800GS that will end up being around 6,000miles.
I'm riding with a mate of mine who will be on his 1150GS and he asked me "what's your oils consumption like and how much oil will you be taking with you?"
Errrrr - I just stared at him blankly - "oil consumption?"
My bike is a 2009 model that I've not even done 10,000 miles on yet. The longest single trip I've done is about 1,500 miles and the longest interval between services has been about 3,000 miles - and I've never had to put a single drop of oil in it as the services have always incorporated an oil change.
I've heard that the big GS's need oil topping up repeatedly but can anyone give me an indication of what the 800 might be like over a 6,000 mile distance? It's all tar roads, nothing extreme - what would you advise I took with me?
Cheers
