Oil filler cap

Mine has started weeping. Lets a drip past every few mins at high revs like when caning down the motorway. It probably only need a new O ring as I think it was overtightened at the last service. I saw a German registered GS on holiday with a metal replacement cap with finger grips (saves getting the plastic key out). Anyone know where I can get one? Also, any cheap alternative to BMW O ring?

Cannot see that a BMW 'O' ring will break the bank, probably less than £1.00.
Go to a motor factors and will probably be 10p. Important to keep the mating surfaces clean. If the oil level is correct I cannot see it leaking though. Be a good idea to check that your oil is not overfull.

You could always get a replcement cap from Touratech or Nippy Normans.

The oil level is fine. I guess there must be a lot of oil thrashing around the head at high revs. It was removing the cap to add some oil that I noticed it overtight from the previous service. I'll overtighten it again until I get a replacement.

I wasn't just being a tightwad I just couldn't be arsed to go all the way to the nearest BMW dealer if I could get the same thing more locally.
